Taylor Volleyball Falls in Season Opener

Sylvania, Ohio – The Trojans began their season with a tough 3-1 loss against Lourdes University despite their comeback efforts.

In their opening action at the Gray Wolf Invitational, Taylor ultimately took one set from the opposition (25-19, 25-23, 18-25, 25-20). The TU squad looked for a comeback after winning the third set but the Gray Wolf attack was too much.

Experience on the roster made a strong impact in the season opener. Senior captain, Haley Harrell, logged 44 assists on the offensive end along with 19 digs to cement the defense. Junior Samantha Korn led the team with 24 digs and added four assists as the libero.

On the attack, senior Addy Bailey crushed 14 kills for the Trojans while sophomore Amanda Adams added 13 kills.

Junior Julia Pomerenke paced the Trojans on the net tallying seven blocks to go along with her six kills. Freshman Ryan Czerniak also made her presence felt by collecting five blocks and 11 kills.

Taylor will look to bounce back Saturday as they conclude the Gray Wolf Invitational with games against College of Coastal Georgia at 10:00am and Indiana University – South Bend at 3:00pm.
