HOT OFF THE PRESS

Carroll (Fort Wayne) ended Fort Wayne’s Snider’s quest for a 13th straight sectional title with a 42-31 triumph in the Class 6A Sectional 3 semifinals.

Elkhart Central’s Mark Brownlee raced 39 times for a school-record 307 yards with five scores in the No. 9 Blazers’ 38-31 victory over No. 6 Concord in Class 5A Sectional 10 action.

Lawrence North snapped a 13-game losing streak to rival Lawrence Central with a 14-7 decision in Class 6A Sectional 7 play.

Caleb Krockover’s 34-yard field goal with 1:46 remaining lifted defending No. 5 and Class 3A state champion West Lafayette to a 34-31 win over Guerin Catholic in Sectional 28 action.

Heritage is searching for a new coach after Nico Tigulis stepped down after compiling a four-year record of 8-33, including a 2-9 finish this past fall.

Kokomo’s Richard Benberry has resigned after two seasons. He went 7-14 with the Wildkats, including a 2-8 mark this past season.
