BREBEUF JESUIT AT INDIANAPOLIS BISHOP CHATARD

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Bishop Chatard.

COACHES: Mic Roessler, 37-24 in sixth season at Brebeuf Jesuit. Rob Doyle, 7-6 in second season at Bishop Chatard.

LAST SEASON: Brebeuf Jesuit 10-5, Bishop Chatard 7-6.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Bishop Chatard, 27-17, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: After starting 2-4, the Braves went on to win eight straight games before losing to Evansville Memorial (29-17) in the 2017 Class 3A state title game. In addition to winning 13 state championship, the Trojans have won one at least one post-season contest going back to the 2000 season.

BROWNSBURG AT BLOOMINGTON SOUTH

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Huff Field.

COACHES: John Hart, 16-5 in third season at Brownsburg, 284-87 in 34th season overall. Mo Moriarity, 187-49 in 21st season at Bloomington South, 291-90 in 33rd season overall.

LAST SEASON: Brownsburg 8-3, Bloomington South 7-6.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Brownsburg, 51-14, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Bulldogs scored 35 or more points in eight of their 11 contests last year. The Bulldogs have been outscored, 79-40, in their last two meetings against Brownsburg.

CARROLL (FORT WAYNE) AT FORT WAYNE BISHOP LUERS

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EDT, Luers Field.

COACHES: Doug Dinan, 63-29 in ninth season at Carroll. Kyle Lindsay, 35-29 in sixth season at Bishop Luers.

LAST SEASON: Carroll 7-4, Bishop Luers 8-5.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Bishop Luers, 34-19, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Chargers have not had a losing season since going 5-6 in 2010. The Knights have dropped two of the three previous matchups with Carroll.

HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN VS. LAWRENCE CENTRAL

KICKOFF: 8:30 p.m. EDT, Lucas Oil Stadium.

COACHES: Adam Morris, 0-0 in first season at Hamilton Southeastern, 13-8 in third season overall. John Rodenberg, 0-0 in first season at Lawrence Central.

LAST SEASON: Hamilton Southeastern 3-7, Lawrence Central 6-4.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Hamilton Southeastern, 22-0, on October 26, 2007 in Class 5A sectional semifinal.

DID YOU KNOW: The Royals scored 10 or fewer points in four of their seven losses. Since winning the Class 5A state title in 2012, the Bears have won just two playoff contests.

KOKOMO AT NEW PALESTINE

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EDT, Kelso Stadium.

COACHES: Richard Benberry, 0-0 in first season at Kokomo. Kyle Ralph, 60-4 in sixth season at New Palestine.

LAST SEASON: Kokomo 9-5, New Palestine 10-1.

PREVIOUS MEETING: This marks the first time these two clubs have met on the gridiron.

DID YOU KNOW: On the way to finishing as Class 5A state runner-up last fall, the Wildkats held their opponents to eight or less points six times. The Dragons have not lost a regular season contest since a 48-13 setback to Mount Vernon (Fortville) on October 12, 2012.

LAFAYETTE JEFF AT WEST LAFAYETTE

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Straley Field.

COACHES: Pat Shanley, 16-5 in third season at Lafayette Jeff. Shane Fry, 53-12 in sixth season at West Lafayette.

LAST SEASON: Lafayette Jeff 10-1, West Lafayette 11-2.

PREVIOUS MEETING: This is the first contest between the two clubs since 1953 when Lafayette Jeff blanked West Lafayette, 33-0, to take a 32-10-6 lead in the series.

DID YOU KNOW: The Bronchos are coming off their first unbeaten regular season since 1998. The Red Devils have not dropped a season-opener since a 15-14 overtime decision to Crawfordsville in 2005.

LAPORTE AT NEW PRAIRIE

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. CDT, Amzie Miller Field.

COACHES: Dave Sharpe, 22-10 in fourth season at LaPorte, 34-20 in 6th season overall. Russ Radtke, 60-14 in seventh season at New Prairie, 350-134 in 42nd season overall.

LAST SEASON: LaPorte 7-4, New Prairie 11-2.

PREVIOUS MEETING: LaPorte, 41-12, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Slicers have claimed 13 of the last 17 matchups on the field against New Prairie. The Cougars rolled up 42 or more points in all 11 of their victories.

LAWRENCEBURG AT EAST CENTRAL

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Trojan Field.

COACHES: Ryan Knigga, 61-23 in eighth season at Lawrenceburg. Don Stonefield, 83-27 in 10th season at East Central.

LAST SEASON: Lawrenceburg 11-2, East Central 12-3.

PREVIOUS MEETING: East Central, 15-14, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Tigers were limited to 21 or fewer points just twice last season. Going back to 1884, the defending Class 4A state champion Trojans have registered just one losing season (4-7) in 2013.

LINTON-STOCKTON AT SOUTHRIDGE

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Raider Field.

COACHES: Brian Oliver, 59-9 in sixth season at Linton. Scott Buening, 48-15 in sixth season at Southridge, 60-43 in 10th season overall.

LAST SEASON: Linton-Stockton 7-4, Southridge 13-2.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Southridge, 20-0, on October 27, 2017 in Class 2A sectional semifinal.

DID YOU KNOW: The Miners’ four losses in 2017 were as many as they had the previous three years combined. On the road to capturing the Class 2A state title last fall, the Raiders surrendered 14 or fewer points 11 times.

NORTHWOOD AT JIMTOWN

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EDT, Knepp Field.

COACHES: Nate Andrews, 35-14 in fifth season at NorthWood, 75-53 in 12th season overall. Michael Campbell, 92-34 in 11th season at Jimtown.

LAST SEASON: NorthWood 7-4, Jimtown 6-6.

PREVIOUS MEETING: NorthWood, 31-0, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Panthers’ four losses were by a combined 23 points. The Jimmies have not registered a losing campaign since finishing 2-8 in 1979.

SOUTH BEND SAINT JOSEPH AT CONCORD

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Jake Field.

COACHES: Bryon Whitten, 7-15 in third season at Saint Joseph. Craig Koehler, 24-9 in fourth season at Concord.

LAST SEASON: Saint Joseph 5-7, Concord 10-2.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Concord, 31-30, on August 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Indians are trying to avoid their third straight losing season for the first time in program history. The Minutemen held opponents to 12 or less points on five occasions.

VALPARAISO AT PENN

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Freed Field.

COACHES: Bill Marshall, 0-1 in first season at Valparaiso. Cory Yeoman, 166-32 in 16th season at Penn.

LAST SEASON: Valparaiso 8-2, Penn 12-2.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Penn, 13-0, on October 27, 2017 in Class 6A sectional semifinal.

DID YOU KNOW: The Vikings are in pursuit of their first win at Penn since a 10-7 triumph in 2010. The Kingsmen allowed seven or fewer points 10 times.

WARREN CENTRAL AT CENTER GROVE

GAME TIME: 7 p.m. ET, Ray Skillman Stadium.

COACHES: Jayson West, 45-16 in sixth season at Warren Central, 97-28 in 11th season overall. Eric Moore, 179-62 in 20th season at Center Grove, 227-67 in 24th season overall.

LAST SEASON: Warren Central 7-4, Center Grove 6-6.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Warren Central, 27-24, Aug. 18, 2017.

DID YOU KNOW: The Warriors have won nine of the last 15 meetings against Center Grove. The Trojans have not endured a losing season since finishing 5-6 in 2005.

WHITELAND AT COLUMBUS EAST

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EDT, Stafford Field.

COACHES: Darrin Fisher, 89-58 in 14th season at Whiteland, 150-130 in 28th season overall. Bob Gaddis, 186-34 in 18th season at Columbus East, 304-134 in 40th season overall.

LAST SEASON: Whiteland 2-8, Columbus East 14-1.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Columbus East, 56-31, on November 4, 2016 in Class 5A sectional final.

DID YOU KNOW: The Warriors gave up 41 or more points on eight occasions. Dating back to 2007, the Olympians’ last five regular season losses have all been to rival Columbus North.

WOODLAN AT LEO

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EDT, Lions Field.

COACHES: Sherwood Haydock, 55-29 in eighth season at Woodlan, 188-148 in 31st season overall. Jared Sauder, 101-33 in 13th season at Leo.

LAST SEASON: Woodlan 12-3, Leo 7-3.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Leo, 10-9, on October 3, 2014.

DID YOU KNOW: The Warriors are going after their sixth consecutive opening game victory. The Lions rolled up 33 or more points in nine of their 10 games.
