• Four Big Ten teams remain undefeated on the season as Ohio State is 6-0, while Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin are 5-0. The Buckeyes are 6-0 for the second consecutive season and the sixth time in the last eight years, while the Nittany Lions and Badgers are both 5-0 for the first time since 2017. The Gophers have opened the season with five victories for the first time since 2004 …
• The Big Ten currently features three programs that rank among the top five nationally in scoring margin. Ohio State leads the nation and the conference, outscoring its opponents by an average of 40.5 points per contest. Wisconsin follows in second nationally at +37.6 points per game, while Penn State is fourth at +31.5 points per contest …
• Ohio State and Penn State currently rank among the top five nationally in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Buckeyes rank fourth in both scoring offense and scoring defense, scoring 49.3 points per game and allowing 8.8. The Nittany Lions are fifth in scoring offense (47.0 points per game) and second in scoring defense (7.4) …
• Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor scored five touchdowns in just over a half in the Badgers’ 48-0 win against Kent State. He tied the Wisconsin single-game record for touchdowns and became the first Badger to reach that mark since Melvin Gordon in 2014. With 186 rushing yards, Taylor passed Gordon for third place on the school’s all-time rushing list with 4,916 career rushing yards. Taylor also passed Montee Ball with his 27th 100-yard game, which is the second-most in school history …
• Taylor has accounted for 16 touchdowns this season, the most by an FBS player through five games since Ricky Williams had 20 in the first five games of his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 1998 …
• Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields threw for a pair of scores and rushed for another in the victory against Michigan State. The sophomore has accounted for 26 touchdowns on the year and is the only Big Ten standout to run and throw for a touchdown in six straight games in at least the last 20 seasons …
• Maryland running back Javon Leake took the opening kickoff of the second half back for a 100-yard touchdown at Rutgers, recording his second career kickoff return touchdown. Leake also carried the ball five times for 65 yards in the contest, including two rushing touchdowns ..
• Ohio State extended its winning streak to 12 games while also becoming the first Big Ten school to secure a bowl berth this season. The Big Ten will continue to feature the largest bowl lineup in conference history …
