Three First Half Goals Carries RV TU to Senior Night Victory
UPLAND, Ind. – A 3-1 win snapped a short skid for the Trojans, as they cruised to a win over Saint Francis during senior night. All three scores came in the opening 26 minutes of action, as the TU squad nabbed its third league victory of the year.
Emma Walsh picked up two quick goals within two minutes of each other to give TU an early advantage on Saturday. The junior increased her season total to five tallies with assists from Hannah Davis and Hannah Waltz.
The Trojans owned the first half with 13 more shots than the visiting squad and four more corner kicks.
Capping off the first half, AC Hardy gave the Trojans a 3-0 edge with her second goal of the year. The Cougars cleared the ball to 20 yards out but Hardy was there to send in a great shot just underneath the crossbar.
TU (10-3-1, 3-2-1 CL) dominated the possession of the ball throughout the Saturday night match, taking 21 shots compared to just three from Saint Francis (2-11-2, 0-6-0 CL). Seven of Taylor’s 10 starting players in the field logged a shot on target, as the team collected 10 such shots.
The Taylor defense played a fantastic game, as Megan Williams maintained a scoreless first half with one save through the 45 minutes of action. The stellar outcome was the eighth win for the Trojans where they outscored their opponent by at least two goals.
TU will return to action at No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan (12-1-2, 5-0-1 CL) on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
