SOUTH BEND, Ind. – In front of its home crowd on Saturday, Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball upset No. 11 Olivet Nazarene by a score of 79-60 as the Titans improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 during Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The upset was the first time since the 2015-16 season and the third time under head coach Scott Cooper that IUSB defeated a top-ranked opponent.

With an eight-point lead heading into the locker room, the Titans used a 20-9 run in the final nine minutes en route to the upset over the Tigers. During the final 20 minutes, IUSB shot 48.5 percent from the floor and held ONU to just 36.5 percent shooting.
Four different Titans scored in double figures and were led by sophomore Miles Tracy’s team-high 16 points on Saturday afternoon to go along with seven rebounds. Junior transfer Sergio Diaz added 12 while senior transfer Kourtlandt Martin and Kenny Washington added 11 and 10, respectively.
Junior Norell Smith nearly missed out on a double-double on the day with nine points and nine rebounds while Martin added a game-high six of the Titan’s 13 total assists. Tracy added the lone block for the Crimson & Cream.
As a team, IUSB shot 45.5 percent from the floor, going 7-of-19 from three-point territory. The Titans notched 12 of their 79 from the free throw line while outrebounding their opponents 46-35. Three different IUSB players grabbed two steals of the nine total.
IU South Bend is back in action next week for a pair of CCAC contests, beginning by travelling to Judson University on Saturday, Nov. 20. The Titans conclude the week by hosting Governors State on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. inside the SAC.
