SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (18-1, 11-1 CCAC) defeated the Aquinas College Saints (8-12, 4-9 CCAC) by a score of 62-48. Saturday’s victory concludes non-conference play for the Titans, finishing with a perfect 7-0 record outside of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

IU South Bend picked up right where they left off versus Saint Francis in the first quarter, scoring 22 points on an efficient 9-13 shooting performance from the field. Katie Gard led the Titans through 10 minutes of play, knocking down all three shots she attempted including two three point field goals to finish the quarter with eight points.

The second quarter wasn’t as successful for the Titans as they were outscored 15-13, the only quarter of play where Aquinas outscored IU South Bend. Still, the Titans entered the locker room with a 10 point lead at halftime.

Rachael Robards picked up the slack in the second half, scoring 10 of her 15 points to help the IU South Bend to a 62-48 victory.

The IU South Bend offense featured three player in double figures, led by Maddie Gard who finished with 16 points on 70% shooting. Gard also collected six rebounds and dished out five assists in the victory over Aquinas.

Next in line in scoring for the Titans was Rachael Robards. Honored pregame for reaching the 1,000 point scoring mark, Robards’ fittingly scored 15 points while knocking down three of her seven attempts from beyond the three point line. At 42.6%, Robards’ finds herself in second place in the CCAC for three point shooting percentage.

The final Titan to reach double figures in the contest was Katie Gard, who finished with 10 points on 4-6 shooting from the field. With eight rebounds, Gard finished two rebounds shy of a double-double.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, January 28th, when they square off with the Jaguars of Governors State at 1:00 PM in the Student Activities Center.
