Trojans Club Seven Dingers in Sweep of Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio – Taylor pounded out 21 runs on 16 extra-base hits with seven home runs in a non-league sweep at Lourdes on Tuesday, topping the Gray Wolves by 10-8 and 11-8 scores.

TU batted .397 in the doubleheader, posting a collective on-base percentage of .468 and a slugging mark of .853, while striking out only five times in the 68 at bats.

Andrew Kennedy hit for the cycle in the twinbill, ending six-of-nine with two singles, two doubles, one triple and one home run while driving in seven runs. Riley Reimschisel, Nathan Targgart and Tanner Watson also homered and doubled, while Jared Adkins blasted two home runs, doubled and stole two bases. Austin Mettica also homered and Wyatt Whitman doubled and stole three bases.

The home run from Reimschisel was his first collegiate blast, while Adkins pushed his team-leading home run total to 13 to match Ryne Otis (2010) for TU’s highest individual single-season total in the Kyle Gould era. With the seven homers, Taylor also claimed the highest team home run mark under Gould, reaching 53 this season to surpass the 2010 squad’s total of 51.

Rob Fox and Colin Eggleson were credited with the wins on the mound for Taylor, while Logan Rodgers and Mitch Ubelhor each recorded saves.

Taylor (31-18, 17-7 CL) will close out the Crossroads League portion of the regular season over the weekend when it hosts Grace (15-28, 7-17 CL) for a Friday doubleheader at 3:00 pm and a single game on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
