Trojans Drop Top-25 Clash at Indiana Wesleyan

MARION, Ind. – Playing in its final road match of the regular season, the No. 18 Taylor volleyball squad fell in three sets at No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan (18-3, 13-3 CL). The loss marked TU’s first time all season losing two-straight contests and dropped the Trojans into third place in the Crossroads League with two outings left to play.
Taylor never held a lead throughout the contest, falling 25-20, 25-15, 25-18. Slow starts cost the Trojans in each of the three games, as the host Wildcat club jumped to leads of 8-2 in set one, 8-2 in set two and 6-2 in set three.
TU ended with 35 kills and 55 digs to IWU’s 38 and 58, but the Purple and Gold had 22 hitting errors and posted a percentage of .102 in the defeat.
Grace Isaacs was a bright spot in limited looks for the offense, posting six kills and just one error in 14 swings and adding two blocks. Amanda Adams led the team with 11 kills and 36 swings, while Sarah Scott added eight terminations and Stephaney Fifield posted 19 digs.
No. 18 Taylor (24-6, 12-4 CL) will have a week off before closing the regular season at home against RV Mount Vernon Nazarene (25-6, 11-5 CL) on Wednesday, October 27 and Saint Francis (6-21, 4-12 CL) on Saturday, October 30.
