Trojans Lead the Field After Nine Events in Atlanta

ATLANTA – The TU men’s track and field team kicked off their outdoor season this weekend at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. After nine events, the Trojans lead the field of 23 teams with 43.5 total team points.
Taylor was anchored by stand-out performances in both track and field events. On the track, Hunter Smith recorded a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:38.87. Â Teammates Conner White and Zach Hoekstra were close behind him, finishing fourth and sixth respectively with times of 10:03.97 and 10:20.00. Matt Sakeuh and Caleb Anthony both scored for TU in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing second and eighth.
In the field events, Sakeuh also picked up a third-place finish in the long jump, making him a 14-point scorer on the day. Luke Wilson posted points for the Trojans by finishing in a tie for sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.95 meters.
Action at the Emory Invitational will resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
