Trojans Nab Third Sweep of 2020, Down Huntington
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The TU volleyball squad (7-7, 6-6 CL) returned to the winning column on Friday night, crushing Huntington (0-11, 0-10 CL) in three sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20. Taylor completed the season sweep on the road, as Amanda Adams highlighted the match with a team-high 12 kills.
The Trojans never trailed by more than one point in the matchup, winning each set by at least four points. Strong runs helped TU gain multiple eight-point leads in the second and third sets.
All phases of the match were dominated by the visiting TU team, connecting on 10 more kills, eight more digs and six more blocks that the Foresters. The Taylor attack was also efficient with a .327 hitting percentage to go along with 47 kills.
Adams led the offense with her 13th-straight double-digit kill effort. From the middle hitter position, senior Grace Isaacs followed closely with nine kills and an outstanding .538 hitting percentage.
The second-ranked assists leader in the NAIA, Kacy Bragg, put together a great performance on Friday with 33 assists. For the seventh time this season, the setter averaged 10 assists per set in the contest.
In the back row, Nikki Parrett recorded 12 digs to lead Taylor, securing double figures in digs in back-to-back matches. Every Trojan that entered the match on Friday, made a contribution on the defensive side with at least one dig.
The Purple and Gold picked up 10 blocks in the win, marking the second highest total of the year for TU. Isaacs and Savannah Strieter each came up with five blocks on the night, with the freshman Strieter tying a season-best.
Taylor will host Senior Day before its next contest on Saturday at 2:00 pm against Bethel (10-2, 10-2 CL).
