Trojans Pick Up 90 Points in Win Over Eagles

UPLAND, Ind. – A Friday night contest fell the way of the Trojans, as they opened the Crossroads/River States Classic with a convincing victory over Cincinnati Christian. Taylor dominated both sides of the court to finish with a 90-51 advantage.
TU (6-1) came out firing from downtown in the first quarter. The team’s first six made shots from the field were all from three, finishing the quarter converting on six-of-eleven triples and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line.
The offensive attack continued with a 14-4 run to begin the second period. Heading into halftime, Taylor held a 25-point lead with eight different Trojans draining a triple.
The final two quarters went just as well for the Purple and Gold, holding Cincinnati Christian (1-5) to 28 points in the second half, while forcing 23 turnovers for the contest.
All but one player entered the scoring column on Friday, as TU displayed its well-rounded and deep lineup. Taylor posted 17 treys on the night, falling two shy of the program record, as 10 different Trojans knocked down a three pointer in the contest. Four student-athletes grabbed double-digit points with Kendall Bradbury leading the way with 15 in just 18 minutes of action.
Aubrey Wright finished with a season-high 11 points and three offensive rebounds on the night. Freshman Merideth Deckard logged her third double-digit outing of her rookie campaign, utilizing four buckets from beyond the arc to reach 12 points.
Pacing the Trojans on the boards, senior guard Lacey Garrett snagged five rebounds to go along with her team-high six assists.
No. 19 Taylor (6-1) has now won four games with a 20-point margin of victory, as it moves on to play IU East (1-5) on Saturday at 3:00 pm to conclude the Crossroads/River States Classic.
