Trojans Pick Up Overtime Win on the Road

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Taylor men’s soccer squad traveled to Trinity Christian for an afternoon match on Saturday and came out with a victory thanks to an overtime goal by Luke Holwerda.

Two minutes and 48 seconds into the first overtime period, Holwerda ended the match with his first goal of 2019. Josiah Wieland delivered the assist on the play, as TU (4-2-2) defeated Trinity Christian (2-3-0), 2-1.

Despite a close finish, Taylor held an advantage for the majority of the contest. Wieland got the scoring started with a goal in the 31st minute off an assist from Owen Hardy. The senior forward has been on fire this season, leading the team with five goals.

On the day, the two teams battled evenly as the Trojans outshot the host squad by just one shot, while the Trolls took seven corner kicks compared to TU’s four.

Taylor will return to action at home on Wednesday, taking on Lawrence Tech (0-4-0) at 7:00 pm.
