TU Claims Shutout in Draw at Saint Francis (Ill.)
JOLIET, Ill. – For the third-consecutive match, Taylor found itself in a double overtime affair. Tuesday’s bout ended with a draw between the Trojans and Saint Francis (Ill.), as neither team managed a goal.
Luke Williams was the star of the match for TU, creating a wall in front of the goal to secure his ninth-career shutout. The senior goalkeeper collected eight saves against Saint Francis (1-0-2), pushing his season total to 21.
Despite the scoreless contest, Taylor put together multiple strong opportunities towards the net. In the 13th minute, Owen Hardy made a great run with just the goalie in front of him but the keeper made a jumping safe to keep the visitors off the board.
The Trojans’ best chance came in the 59th minute from Josiah Wieland delivering a penalty kick that required a diving save from the goalkeeper. Taylor posted nine shots in each half on Tuesday with Wieland leading the way with four shots and three on-goal.
TU will return home for its next contest, taking on Governors State (0-0) on Monday at 7:00 pm.
