TU Ends Season with Loss at No. 14 Marian in CL Semifinals
INDIANAPOLIS – The Taylor University women’s soccer team fell, 2-1, at Marian on Saturday in the Crossroads League Semifinals, as Bailey Zehr’s 19th-minute goal was not enough to knock off the 14th-ranked Knights.
Marian (15-2-3) took a 1-0 lead less than one minute into the contest, netting the game’s first goal after just 57 seconds of play.
Zehr’s equalizer came 18 minutes later, courtesy of Emily Calvani’s assist, to bring the Trojans into a 1-1 tie with the hosts.
The game remained tied for the next 51 minutes, until MU notched the game-winner with 20 minutes remaining in the game, knocking the Trojans out of the league tournament.
The Knights outshot TU, 16-10, on the evening, including 7-3 over the final 45 minutes.
The loss marked the final contest in the careers of three Trojan seniors, Amy Frederickson, Megan Kammer and Nikki Zaino.
Taylor ends its season with a 12-7-1 overall mark and a 4-4-1 record in league play.
