TU Matches Program-Record with 19 Treys in Home Rout

UPLAND, Ind. – The ninth-ranked Trojans drained 19 threes on Tuesday, tying their program-record set back on October 26 in their first game of the season. The offensive outpouring led to an 88-60 victory over RV Huntington.
It did not take long for Taylor (20-4, 11-2 CL) to get warmed up, hitting nine of its first 10 triples in the game. Becca Buchs led the charge, going four-for-four from downtown for 14 points in the opening quarter. Finishing on an 11-0 run, TU scored 33 points in the first, notching a 24-point advantage after ten minutes of action.
Three Trojans were in double-figures by halftime with the help of Aubrey Wright, who dished out seven assists in the first half, finishing with 10 on the game.
Maintaining complete control in the game, TU utilized another run to extend its lead, ending the third quarter on a 12-1 swing to push the lead to 30 points. Taylor cruised to the victory in the fourth quarter, posting the 88-60 win.
Tuesday’s victory was the 12-straight win for the Trojans, marking the best winning streak for the program since the 2000-2001 campaign. Taylor also picked up its 20th win of the season, securing back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in 14 years.
Taylor’s offensive pressure was too much for the Foresters (14-10, 7-6 CL), as the visitors gave up a season-high 88 points to the Trojans. TU was extremely efficient shooting the ball, knocking down 50.0 percent of its attempts from the field and 52.8 percent of its shots from beyond the arc.
TU won in almost all facets of the game, outdueling Huntington in field goals, triples, free throws, rebounds, steals and assists.
Grabbing a team-high 24 points, Kendall Bradbury brought a strong attack, going seven-of-14 from the floor and seven-of-eight from the charity stripe. The senior also added three steals and nine rebounds.
Becca Buchs put together a fantastic performance on Tuesday, logging 23 points with a career-high seven treys, while converting triples at a 70.0 percent clip. Also contributing on offense, Abby Buchs recorded 15 points of her own to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.
The reserves made their mark in the victory, pouring in 24 points as a group. Lauren James led the bench with 10 points and four assists on the night.
No. 9 Taylor will look for its 13th-consecutive win on Saturday, as the team will head to Spring Arbor (7-18, 3-10 CL) for the 1:00 pm contest.
