TU Loses at Trinity International

DEERFIELD, Ill. – The McBride brothers teamed up for TU’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss at Trinity International on Monday.

In the 62nd minute, Paul received the pass from James to deliver Taylor’s (2-2-0) only netter of the contest, but was not enough as TIU (1-1-0) already had the lead. The goal was Paul’s second of the season and James’ first-career assist.

Trinity International opened the scoring column early in the non-conference showdown, as it scored in the fifth minute. TU’s defense strengthened and held the hosts scoreless for the next 56 minutes of action, until the hosts put another in goal. Trinity scored again in the 77th minute to put the match out of reach.

The Purple and Gold took 14 shots and had seven on-goal, compared to TIU’s eight shots and five on-goal.

Jeremiah Rader and Paul McBride led Taylor with four shots each.

Junior Luke Williams saved two shots in goal, moving his season total to 12.

TU remains on the road as the squad visits Concordia on Sept. 3 for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
