TU Softball Punches Ticket to NAIA Nationals

KANSAS CITY – For the second time in program history, the Taylor University softball team has qualified for the NAIA National Championship Tournament, as the Trojans grabbed one of the nine at-large bids to secure a spot in the national tournament.

The opening round consists of 10 pods of four teams each and will be played Monday, May 15, through Wednesday, May 17. The winner of each double-elimination pod will go to the NAIA World Series in Clermont, Florida.

RV Taylor (38-16) claimed the No. 3 seed in the Columbia (Ky.) Bracket, which features top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (39-11), No. 2 seed Corban (40-11) and No. 4 seed Madonna (30-14). The Trojans will face Corban in their first game on Monday at a time yet to be determined.

The winner of the Taylor-Corban matchup will advance to play the winner of Lindsey Wilson and Madonna on Tuesday.

TU held steady in the final national rankings at No. 27 despite gaining seven extra points in the poll, collecting 58 points in the final top-25 poll after earning 51 points in the May 2 rating.
