TU Begins 2019 Season in Dominating Fashion

WILMORE, Ky. – The TU women’s soccer squad notched a 4-0 victory on Wednesday, taking down Asbury in their first game of the year. The team logged its sixth season-opening win in its last eight campaigns.

The Trojans (1-0) owned the pitch in the afternoon contest, maintaining consistent ball control along with a steady attack. Offensively, TU took 15 shots with 10 on target compared to just four total shots from the Eagles (0-1).

Sophomore Erin Teevans got the ball rolling in the first half, breaking in the scoreboard with a goal in the first ten minutes of action. Adding to the scoring column, Victoria Hilse contributed from the defense for her first career goal.

Ali Clodgo took control in the second half, pouring in a pair of goals to push the TU advantage to 4-0. The two-score effort was the second in the sophomore’s career, as Clodgo reached the same mark against Cornerstone last year.

Following 11 shutouts for the team in 2018, Megan Williams and Lauren Cammarano each completed a scoreless half in the goal for the first shutout in 2019.

The Trojans will return to action on Saturday, taking on Lourdes at 7:30 pm.
