UMSL, Southern Indiana Earn Final GLVC Baseball Weekly Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – University of Southern Indiana graduate leftfielder Drake McNamara and University of Missouri-St. Louis senior starter Jim Brandt have been respectively named the final Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week of the baseball season, it was announced by the Conference office on Monday.

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Team Results: W 6-5 vs. UMSL (5/1); L 6-10, W 10-2 vs. UIndy (5/4); W 24-7, W 13-10 vs. UIndy (5/5)

  • Hit .556 (10-for-18) in five games with eight home runs, one double, 11 runs scored and 17 RBI
  • Reached base safely in all five games, including multiple hits in four contests
  • Registered 37 total bases and a 1.944 slugging percentage
  • Opened week going 2-for-2 with two homers, four RBI and two runs scored
  • Registered an RBI sacrifice fly in the opener against UIndy, before going 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in game two
  • Cleared the fence three times in game one to tie the USI school record during a 4-for-5 effort that also included a double, five runs scored and six RBI
  • Finished series with a 2-for-4 outing with another home run, three walks (one intentional), two runs scored and one RBI
  • Became the USI career leader for home runs (32)
  • Set USI single-season record for home runs (16) with that five-homer effort against UIndy on Sunday
  • Earns first career Player of the Week award
  • Last Southern Indiana Player of the Week: Buddy Johnson (4/2/18)
