VU Women’s Soccer Adds Two Players to Incoming Class

Valpo soccer head coach John Marovich announced today that two more incoming freshmen have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Beacon soccer program for the 2022 season. Kennedy Hill and Kylie Schiemann join the trio who signed in November to give the Beacons five incoming freshmen this fall.

Kennedy Hill – 5’8” – D – Austin, Texas – St. Michael’s Catholic Academy – Sting Austin ECNL

Hill was a First Team All-State honoree this season after earning Second Team All-State accolades as a junior, leading her team to consecutive district championships and back-to-back appearances in the state title match. She has also picked up All-District, Academic All-State and state All-Tournament Team honors during her time at St. Michael’s, and set a program record with 46 goals scored in a season. Hill has played her club soccer for Sting Austin ECNL.

Hill on why she chose Valpo: “I chose Valpo because of the people. Everyone was so down to earth and I really enjoyed the college town feel. The coaches were so approachable and I’m beyond excited that I found my new family. I can’t wait! Roll Beacs!!”

Marovich on Hill: “Kennedy is an outside back who has the vision to get forward into the attack. She has a solid passing range to play short and to play long diagonal balls to stretch the back line. Her willingness to take players on in 1-v-1 situations fits our expectations of our outside backs. Kennedy is a sound defender both individually and in small blocks. She adds another set of talents to our strong defensive side of the ball.”

Kylie Schiemann – 5’4” – F – Geneva, Ohio – Geneva H.S. – Cleveland Force SC

Schiemann stood out on the attack for the Eagles, scoring 75 goals over the course of her prep career. She was honored as conference MVP as a senior and was the County Player of the Year as a junior. Schiemann was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection and was named to the All-Greater Cleveland team in each of her four seasons. Schiemann has played her club soccer for Cleveland Force SC.

Schiemann on why she chose Valpo: “I chose Valpo not only for the positive and competitive soccer atmosphere, but also for the family environment it provides all around campus.”

Marovich on Schiemann: “Kylie is a dynamic attacking player who can play in a wide position or even as an attacking midfielder. She loves to take players on in 1-v-1 situations and is very comfortable with the ball at her feet in tight spaces. These qualities fit very well with our game model in the attacking third of the field.”
