Cecchini Named FCS Region 4 Coach of the Year

The accolades just keep rolling in for Valparaiso University head football coach Dave Cecchini, who has been named the FCS Region 4 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association.

The AFCA recognizes five regional Coach of the Year winners in each of the Association’s five division: FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA. The winners are selected based on voting among association members, who vote for coaches in their respective region and divisions.

This high honor will be presented during the American Football Coaches Awards show, which will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 9 in Charlotte, N.C. By virtue of winning the regional distinction, Cecchini becomes a finalist for the AFCA FCS National Coach of the Year award, which will be announced during the Jan. 9 event.

This award comes on the heels of Cecchini hauling in a pair of other noteworthy honors – winning Pioneer Football League Coach of the Year and being named a finalist for STATS FCS Coach of the Year.

Cecchini led the Crusaders to a 6-5 overall record, 5-3 PFL mark and their first winning season since 2003.
