Torhorst Claims MVC Weekly Award

 

Junior Lauren Torhorst (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) has been named the MVC Offensive Player of the Week after helping lead Valpo to its 3-0 victory in the regular season finale last Friday.

 

Torhorst registered her second two-goal match of the MVC schedule to help Valpo to the 3-0 win over UNI in the regular season finale and secure a berth in the MVC Tournament. Torhorst opened the scoring with a 13th-minute goal for the eventual match-winner, and then capped the scoring with a 58th-minute insurance tally. All five of the junior’s goals this season came during MVC play, and she ranked second in the conference in goals in MVC-only matches.

 

The award was the first of Torhorst’s career. The junior is the first Valpo player to win a weekly award from the MVC office since Kezia Gesell was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week last year on Oct. 15.
