DEERFIELD, Ill. – The Indiana University South Bend baseball team concluded the three-game season series against Trinity International with a 12-6 victory over the Trojans on the road Thursday, April 22.
The Titans upped their record to 17-18 overall and 13-7 during Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference and are now winners of their last four.

IU South Bend plated 12 runs off 16 hits, its fourth multi-hit performance in five games, while Trinity International finished with 10. Three Titans picked up multi-hit efforts, led by junior Tyler Welborn as the first baseman went 4-for-5 with a game-high four RBIs, two runs scored and ripped his first bomb of the season.
Junior Kage Haeck picked up the win after tossing seven innings allowing two runs off six hits. The South Bend, Ind. native also delivered four strike outs on the afternoon. Cal Whitaker and Daniel Murczek combined for the final two innings for the Titans that had four runs off four hits.
After Trinity International got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top half of the first, Bais got the offense started in the second after wearing one on the leadoff. Bais eventually was driven home after a bases loaded Jake Vanderwoude hit by pitch.
Stetz started the six-run inning in the third with a leadoff home run while Moore, Bais, and Welborn connected on hits to boost the Crimson and Cream to a five-run advantage at 7-2.
The Titans took a 11-2 lead after plating three runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth before both teams were held scoreless in the next three innings. Smith drove in the final run of the game after knocking an RBI double to bring home Stetz, upping the score to 12-2.
TIU roared back with a four-run inning in the bottom half of the ninth but a line out to third base ended the game.
