Welsh headed to Harvard

Saint Joseph High School senior softball player Megan Welsh will be furthering her academic and athletic careers at Harvard University. Megan plays travel softball for Indiana Magic Gold 18U, which is coached by Brian Green. She started playing travel softball with the Mystique program under Dan Berry and Dawn Austin. She has received academic high honors each semester of high school and is also a current member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.  In addition, Megan is involved in numerous volunteer activities and clubs and is a four-year varsity starter who has been named captain for the 2018 season.  Among her Northern Indiana Conference awards for softball include second-team all-conference in 2015 and 2016 and first-team all-conference in 2017. During her junior season, Megan was also named to the second-team all-state and she holds the school record for hitting three home-runs in a single game and set a record for hitting two home runs in a single inning.  Megan’s older sister, Kelly Welsh, is currently a junior on the University of Wisconsin softball team.
