Wildcats Win Two over BC Softball
Â
It was another tough day on the diamond for BC softball as the Pilots fell in back-to-back contests to Indiana Wesleyan University 8-0 and 11-1. Bethel falls to 2-33 on the season and 2-24 in Crossroads League play.
After two scoreless innings, the IWU Wildcats were the first to strike by pushing a pair across the plate in the bottom of the third frame. The hosts kept firing with two more in the bottom of the fifth to put BC in a 4-0 hole. Ultimately, the Wildcats doubled up on the Pilots in the bottom of the sixth with four additional runs. IWU’s eight runs came on 15 hits and three BC miscues. The Pilots’ offense was stalemated during the contest and recorded one hit, which came in the top of the second off the bat of Kathryn Childers.
It was more of the same in the nightcap. The power hitting of Indiana Wesleyan outslugged BC 14-5 and downed BC 11-1 in five innings. The scoring came early and often with runs being posted in all five of IWU’s at-bats. Childers picked up two hits in the loss while Rachel Najdek, Katie Rhoade and Jordan Mathison each recorded one.
The Pilots will be back in action on Tuesday hosting NAIA No. 4 Marian in a twin bill that is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.
