KANSAS CITY, Mo.—As Southeastern prepares for its fourth consecutive appearance in the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament, it does so as the top overall seed.
The Fire are the only team to enter the tournament unbeaten. The 32-team field was announced Wednesday evening, and is made up of 22 automatic berths and 10 at-large selections.
Southeastern is 2-3 all-time in the tournament, having picked up both of its wins last season, advancing to the quarterfinal round.
Its first round opponent is Cornerstone University, the champions of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference on Wednesday, March 7 at 6:15 p.m. Eastern. The Golden Eagles are 19-14 this season, and are making their 11th appearance, holding a 9-10 record in the tournament.
