Women’s Basketball Loses Game to #13 Grand Valley State

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Purdue University Northwest women’s basketball team (2-18, 0-14 GLIAC) fought hard but the No. 13 team in the country Grand Valley State (20-2, 13-1 GLIAC) was too much to handle as the Lakers defeated the Pride, 84-36, at GVSU Fieldhouse Arena, Thursday.

The Pride had three players reach eight points each. Sophomore Danielle Nennig (Wrightstown, Wis./Wrightstown) had eight points and five rebounds. Freshman Kelli Damman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) recorded eight points and junior Bayley Goodman (Fowler, Ind./Benton Central) added eight points in the setback.

PNW outscored GVSU 8-7 the rest of the first quarter after the Lakers led 14-3 in the early stages of game including a back-to-back buckets by Damman, which was a layup and a three-pointer.

Goodman ended the first half with a three-pointer and Damman started the second half with a trifecta to make it 42-24 GVSU. GVSU had control of the rest of the way.

Cassidy Boensch led the Lakers in the game with 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

PNW returns to action Saturday, February 9 as the Pride travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to take on the Davenport Panthers with game time scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
