WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—The Fire women’s tennis team was swept 9-0 by NCAA Division II Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday after facing their third D-II opponent of the year.
PBA dominated both doubles and singles competition, dropping a combined five games in doubles play and blanking four sets in singles matches.
The duo of Sharienne Ricardo and Angelique Myrtil notched wins in four games as they tried to upset the Sailfish’s top pairing before eventually falling 8-4.
Though the Fire fought hard, PBA overpowered Southeastern at all three doubles spots and all six singles positions.
Ricardo and Sydni Brookhouser each were victorious in a team-high four games at their respective no. 1 and no. 6 singles matches, while Myrtil grabbed triumphs in three games at no. 2.
Southeastern will take the courts again in a match versus Loyola University (La.) on March 26 in Orlando.
