Wrestling Convincing in Final Dual Meet Win

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern won seven of the 10 matches of the night in a 35-12 victory beat Brewton-Parker in the team’s final dual meet of the season.

Ethan Owen picked up the first win of the day, scoring a first period fall at 133, with Jake Watters following suit in his 141-pound match. At 165, Matthew Cates also won by first period fall.

Jason Davis scored a technical fall in the third period, and Nate Cleland came away with a hard-fought 6-3 decision.

In their final home matches with the Fire, seniors Ryan Strickland and Aris Knight scored memorable victories. At 165, Strickland registered a second period fall of his opponent. Knight made the most of his final bout at The Fire Pit, going into beattime, and eventually, into a tiebreaker, where he picked up a 6-3 victory to conclude the night.

Southeastern will head to the East Region qualifier on February 17 in Bowling Green, Ky.
