Zehr’s Hat Trick Leads RV Taylor to 4-1 Rout of USF

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Two first-half goals by Bailey Zehr gave TU a 2-0 lead at the break, and RV Taylor would not look back, securing a 4-1 win over the Cougars on a cold and wet Tuesday night at Saint Francis.

Zehr netted her first two goals in the sixth and 15th minutes of the contest, giving the Trojans an early 2-0 cushion over the hosts that TU would not surrender.

Megan Kammer added a third goal in the 74th minute to give the Purple and Gold a 3-0 advantage, but USF recorded its lone goal of the evening in the 78th minute to spoil the shutout.

In the 83rd minute, Zehr completed her first-career hat trick to make the 4-1 final tally.

The Trojans exhibited control of possession throughout the contest, outshooting Saint Francis, 12-3, and holding a 4-0 advantage on corner kicks. Of Taylor’s 12 shots, 10 were on frame.

Lauren Engelkes notched her eighth win of the year with a pair of saves in the net for TU.

RV Taylor (11-5-1, 4-3-1 CL) will finish out the regular season on Saturday at 7:00 pm inside Turner Stadium, as TU hosts Huntington (8-7-1, 4-3 CL) on Senior Night.
