WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—The No. 3 ranked Fire women’s basketball team dominated on the road against Sun Conference opponent Keiser University Saturday afternoon, taking the contest by a score of 109-47. With the victory over the Seahawks, SEU moved to 8-0 (3-0 TSC) and extended its regular season win streak to 61 competitions.
Southeastern opened the game on a 9-0 run in the first 1:36 thanks to six points from Makenzie Cann and didn’t look back. The senior transfer from Kentucky finished the frame with 17 points on 7-8 shooting and failed to miss a shot the rest of the game as the Fire led 32-10 after a quarter of play.
Strict defense enabled SEU to take control of the competition. The Fire forced a total of 30 turnovers which led directly to 46 points compared to Keiser’s mere six points off of seven Southeastern mistakes to put Southeastern up 51-26 at halftime.
The Fire, who outscored the Seahawks 58-21 in the final 20 minutes, found the open player on the offensive end of the court extremely well. All 11 SEU players that entered the game scored at least two points on the day, while four members of the team added at least four assists. Halee Printz led the Fire with 12 helpers.
Elsa Paulsson-Glantz notched 15 of her 23 points in the second half as Southeastern ousted Keiser 109-47. Cann ended with a season-high 31 points on 12-13 shooting including a perfect 5-5 from deep. She also contributed with a game-high six steals. Overall, the Fire shot 60.9% (42-69 FG) and an impressive 47.6% (10-21) from beyond the arc.
Emma Karamovic and Jaycee Coe each added double-digit efforts for the Fire, recording 16 and 13 points, respectively.
SEU will conclude its trio of mid-season Sun Conference matchups by hosting Ave Maria in the Furnace on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
