CRESTWOOD, Ill.-Â The Indiana University South Bend Titans (18-32, 10-22 CCAC) dropped both games of their doubleheader to the Roosevelt University Lakers (28-20, 19-13 CCAC) falling in game one 12-8 before dropping game two by a final score of 11-9.
Game 1
IU South Bend got the scoring started in the top of the first inning by scoring three runs thanks to runs driven in by Anthony Pohl, Gabe Cortez, and Quinn Meier.
Roosevelt answered back in the bottom of the first with a two RBI single to cut the Titans lead to 3-2.
IUSB responded with four more runs in the top of the fourth inning via RBI singles from Anthony Pohl and Gabe Cortez and an RBI double from Kaleb Farnham.
The Lakers put up three more runs in the second and third innings to cut their deficit to 7-5.
A Logan Smith solo home run in the top of the fourth grew the Titans lead to three before Roosevelt answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 8-8.
The rest of the game proved all Lakers as they pushed four runs across in the final innings to take game one by a score of 12-8.
Game 2
Roosevelt took an early lead in game two by scoring seven runs in the first three innings to take a commanding lead.
Runs batted in by Josiah Nelson and Kaleb Farnham in the fourth and fifth innings cut the IUSB deficit to 7-2 through five innings of play.
One Roosevelt run in the sixth inning grew the Lakers lead to six before IUSB responded with four runs in the seventh inning due to RBI singles from Kaleb Farnham and Gabe Cortez and a two run home run from third baseman Quinn Meier.
The Lakers plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 11-6 lead before the Titans grew within striking distance thanks to ninth inning home runs from Kaleb Farnham and Quinn Meier. The Titans could not score again and ultimately fell in game two by a final score of 11-9.
