2025-26 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Honors Released
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its 2025-26 Women’s Basketball awards. All-Conference teams are selected by a vote of conference head coaches. First and Second Teams consist of 10 members each. Individual awards include Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character Coach.
Player of the Year: Taylor Covington, Indiana Tech
For the second consecutive season, Indiana Tech’s Taylor Covington has been voted the conference Player of the Year. The senior guard becomes the fourth player in conference history to win back-to-back Player of the Year honors and the first to do so since 2022. Covington was top five in the conference in points per game (18.5) third in total points (517), first in total assists (150) and first in assists per game (5.6). The Dublin, Ohio native also added 50 steals and 12 blocks on the season. Covington’s efforts led Indiana Tech to its fifth-straight WHAC regular season title with a 20-2 mark in conference play and 23-5 overall record. Covington becomes a four-team First Team All-WHAC selection and was also the WHAC Newcomer of the Year in 2022-23.
Defensive Player of the Year: Tamyah Worthy, Lourdes University
Lourdes senior Tamyah Worthy was selected by coaches as the Defensive Player of the Year. Worthy becomes the first Lourdes player to earn this honor. She led the conference in steals with 83 on the season, good for 3.1 per game. Worthy also pulled down 189 total rebounds on the season, 105 of which came on the defensive glass. This is her second-consecutive season as a member of the All-Defensive Team.
Newcomer of the Year: Kaylona Butler, Lourdes University
Lourdes junior, Kaylona Butler, was voted by coaches as the Newcomer of the Year. The junior from Toledo did it all for the Gray Wolves this season. She averaged 20.6 points per game (2nd in the WHAC), shot 42% from three point range (58-158) and was third in the conference in free-throw percentage at 88.4% (122-138). Butler earns First-Team All-Conference honors and is the first Lourdes player to win Newcomer of the Year honors.
Coach of the Year: Jared Ocampo, Rochester Christian University
Ocampo was voted by his peers as the conference Coach of the Year. In his third season at the helm at RCU, Ocampo manufactured one of the league’s biggest turnarounds. The Warriors finished 9-11 and in ninth place in the WHAC a season ago. This year, they were 18-4, good for second place in the regular season and the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. This is his first time earning the honor and makes him the first RCU women’s basketball coach to be named Coach of the Year since 2021.
Champion of Character Coach: Jessica Yonkers, Cornerstone University
For the sixth time in her career, Jessica Yonkers has been selected by her peers as the Champion of Character Coach. This award goes to the coach who best models the NAIA’s Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
In addition to the All-Conference awards, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic and Champions of Character teams. The All-Academic Team consists of sophomores or above with a cumulative 3.25 GPA who have been at their school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team comprises one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
