2025 WHAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Coaches for men’s soccer in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) have selected defending regular season champion Madonna University as the preseason favorite for the 2025 season. The Crusaders narrowly edged out defending WHAC tournament champion Indiana Tech by two points in the poll. They were followed closely by Lourdes (107), Aquinas (103), and UNOH (102).

Madonna has claimed two of the last three and four of the last eight WHAC regular season titles. They finished the 2024 season with a 14-3-4 overall record, including an unbeaten 10-0-2 mark in regular season conference play. The Crusaders fell in the conference tournament semifinals but went on to represent the WHAC in the NAIA National Championship tournament.

Indiana Tech, checking in at number two, looks to build on its postseason momentum from 2024. Last season, the Warriors claimed a remarkable sixth-straight WHAC tournament title and finished the campaign with a 13-2-5 overall record and a 9-0-3 conference mark. The Warriors also earned a bid to the NAIA National Championship to represent the WHAC.

Lourdes University was selected third in the preseason poll following a stellar 2024 season. The Gray Wolves were 9-7-4 overall and 8-2-2 in conference play, earning them a third-place finish. They secured an opening-round win in the conference tournament before falling to eventual champion Indiana Tech in the semifinals.

Poll Methodology: Each WHAC head coach ranks teams 1-12 depending on their predicted finish for the 2024 season. First place votes are worth 12 points, second are worth 11 and so on.

The season gets underway on August 21 with WHAC play starting on September 20.

2025 WHAC Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Head coaches for women’s soccer in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) have voted University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) as the preseason favorite for the 2025 season. This is the first time since 2020 that UNOH has topped the preseason coaches poll, and the first time since 2021 that Aquinas hasn’t been selected as the favorite. Only two points and one first-place vote separted the two teams in the poll.

UNOH finished the 2024 season with a 14-4-4 overall record and a 10-1-1 conference record. Though they lost to Aquinas in the WHAC title game via penalty kicks, the Racers earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship. There, they secured a win before being eliminated in the second round. The team returns a strong core of players and looks to build on their postseason success.

Aquinas has dominated WHAC women’s soccer over the last five seasons, winning five consecutive regular season titles and three of the last four tournament titles. The Saints went 17-1-2 overall and 11-0-1 in conference play last season and hold a 50-game regular season unbeaten streak dating back to the 2020 season. Aquinas also represented the WHAC at the NAIA National Championship, advancing to the round of 16 before their season ended. They will also return a solid core of players under the leadership of new Interim Head Coach Jenna Smith.

Rounding out the top three is Siena Heights, which finished third in the conference last season. The Saints were 13-2-4 overall and 9-1-2 in WHAC play. Siena Heights will return six of their 11 starters and integrate a solid incoming class to add depth to their roster.

Poll Methodology: Each WHAC head coach ranks teams 1-12 depending on their predicted finish for the 2025 season. First place votes are worth 12 points, second are worth 11 and so on.

The season gets underway on August 21 with WHAC play starting on September 20.
