24 Member Schools to receive AED Grant

IHSAA Foundation to provide life-saving devices to schools across the state.

The IHSAA and the IHSAA Foundation are proud to announce that twenty-four member schools across the state have been selected to receive an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

This grant is made possible through partnerships with the NFHS Foundation and CPR Institute of Indiana, with appreciation for the efforts of the Indianapolis Colts. This grant provides one device at no cost to the recipients listed below, with all member schools gaining eligibility at discounted rates and access to video instruction on the operation, maintenance, and care of AEDs.

Recipients of the grant include:
• Beech Grove High School
• Blue River Valley High School
• DeKalb High School
• DeMotte Christian High School
• Dugger Union High School

“The presence of an AED in each school, at each athletic event, could save the life of your child, your grandchild, or your neighbor’s
child,” says Phil Eskew, M.D., Chair of the IHSAA Foundation Board of Directors and Professor Emeritus, IU School of Medicine, “it is
imperative that schools are provided with support to improve response time when seconds count.”

In concert with CPR and an efficient, practiced Emergency Action Plan (EAP), an AED has been shown to be an important factor in
saving the lives of student-athletes, parents, fans, and all in attendance at events.

This is the first year of the IHSAA Foundation’s AED Grant and the second grant offered by the IHSAA Foundation in the 2024-25
School Year.
