A perfect Illinois side proved too much for Valpo to handle on Sunday afternoon in Champaign, Ill., as the Beacons fell 6-0 to the Fighting Illini.
How It Happened
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Illinois struck 48 seconds into the match to open the scoring.
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Fighting Illini added goals in the 19th minute, the 34th minute and the 42nd minute to go into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Illinois found the back of the net twice in the opening 11 minutes of the second half for the final margin.
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Saki Tsuchiya (Takasaki, Japan/Kaishi Gakuen [Tyler J.C.]) laid out to her left to save a penalty kick in the 84th minute to keep the Fighting Illini from adding to their lead.

–         Tsuchiya made her Beacon debut on Sunday afternoon, stepping into goal at the start of the second half and making five saves — highlighted by the aforementioned penalty stop.
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Kate Sheridan (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) made three saves in goal in the first half, including a pair of highlight-reel stops.
