INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —The Bethel Pilots (14-11, 6-6) fell to the (RV) Marian University Knights (14-7, 6-6) 3-1 on Wednesday evening at the Physical Education Center.

Bethel is now fifth in the Crossroads League behind No. 20 Taylor University, while Marian ranks seventh behind Grace College.

The Knights claimed the first and final sets of the evening 25-14. Marian also brought the heat from the service line, posting five aces while the Pilots had none.

The Pilots took a tough 25-23 second set loss to the Knights, before battling back for a 25-20 win in the third.

The third set highlighted Bethel’s variety of hitters: with setter Haley Biedenbach recording two kills, Liberty Pierson and Ainsley Tacke each posting five kills, and Taylor Delp recording four kills.

Defensive Specialist Lily Vester shared, “We battled tough tonight, but our own mistakes cost us in the end. We know what needs to be fixed, and we’re ready to put in the work–for ourselves and for each other.”

The Pilots will look for their next Crossroads League win over the No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats (18-3, 12-0) on Saturday in the Gates Gymnasium. First serve is set for approximately 1 PM, as the Pilots seek to deliver Indiana Wesleyan its first conference loss of the season.
