IUSB Women’s earns road win at St Ambrose
DAVENPORT, Iowa – IU South Bend continued its strong play for a win on Wednesday afternoon, earning a 65-53 road victory over St. Ambrose to improve to 14-6 overall and 9-3 in CCAC play. The Titans’ defense starred, never allowing more than 14 points in a quarter and holding the Bees to 37.0 percent shooting and just 20.0 percent from three, controlling the game wire to wire.
IUSB absorbed an early punch, opening the game down 4-0 and later trailing 9-5 midway through the first quarter. From there, the Titans completely flipped the momentum with an 11-0 run, sparked by four SAU turnovers. The run put IUSB ahead 16-9, before finishing the quarter up, 18-14.
Kenzie Fulks powered the offense with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting while adding seven rebounds, marking her third straight double-digit scoring game and her sixth of the season. The junior guard helped settle the Titans early and was key again late, scoring four points in the fourth quarter to hold off a final St. Ambrose push.
Tenleigh Phelps added another steady all-around showing with 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists, scoring efficiently around the rim and helping orchestrate the offense during IUSB’s second-half surge. Bradie Chambers contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while Aubrie Booker chipped in 10 points and hit a pair of threes — including a key one early in the second quarter to push the Titans back in front.
IU South Bend used a 20-point third quarter and a 61.5 percent shooting clip in that period to build its largest lead of the game, stretching the margin to 16 with strong execution through the paint and in transition. St. Ambrose never got closer than seven in the second half.
Defensively, the Titans were active and disciplined, forcing 19 SAU turnovers that led to 15 points the other way. IUSB also outscored the Bees 28-20 in the paint and held St. Ambrose to just four made threes across 40 minutes.
IUSB will be back at home on Monday, hosting Calumet at 7:00 pm in the Student Activities Center.
