Illinois, Minnesota and Purdue Earn Weekly Volleyball Awards

Illinois’ Poulter, Minnesota’s McGraw and Seliger-Swenson and Purdue’s Atkinson earn weekly honors

Player of the Week

Sherridan Atkinson, Purdue

OH – Sr. – Long Beach, Calif. – Millikan

• Averaged 4.89 kills per set on a .448 hitting percentage in wins on the road against Rutgers and No. 4 Penn State

• Posted a career-best 32 kills on a .536 hitting clip against No. 4 Penn State

• Marked the first Boilermaker to hit 30+ kills since 2014

• Earns her third career Player of the Week honor and second of the season

• Last Purdue Player of the Week: Sherridan Atkinson (Aug. 27, 2018)

Defensive Player of the Week

Morgan O’Brien, Illinois

L – So. – Libertyville, Ill. – Libertyville

• Averaged 6.3 digs per set against Maryland and No. 9 Nebraska

• Tallied 32 digs against the Huskers to help No. 6 Illinois defeat Nebraska for the first time since 2014

• The sophomore also added seven assists and two service aces in the two wins

• Collects her first career Defensive Player of the Week accolade

Co-Setter of the Week

Jordyn Poulter, Illinois

S – Sr. – Aurora, Colo. – Eaglecrest

• Led No. 6 Illinois to wins against Maryland and No. 9 Nebraska

• Averaged 12.6 assists per set over the weekend, while also adding 25 total digs for 3.6 per set

• Registered her 34th career double-double and 11th of the season with 49 assists and a season-high 18 digs along with three blocks and three kills in a four-set win over the Huskers

• Receives her eighth career Setter of the Week award and the fifth of the season

Samantha Seliger-Swenson, Minnesota

• Led No. 3 Minnesota to a pair of wins over Michigan State and No. 12 Michigan averaging 13.17 assists per set helping the Gophers hit .338 as a team and tallied 79 of the team’s 87 assists for the weekend

• Against the Spartans, helped Minnesota hit .311 percent and had 39 assists and contributed two aces

• Versus the Wolverines, Seliger-Swenson aided Minnesota to a .364 hitting clip and marked 40 assists to complete the double-double with 10 digs

• Grabs her 17th career Setter of the Week award and sixth of the season
