CENTIER BANK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK – 5-18-19

The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Chesterton junior track and field performer Dimitri Nicholson and Mishawaka senior track and field performer Faith Quintana.

After playing baseball the last two years, Nicholson ran the 100-meter dash in 10.73 at last Thursday’s Portage Sectional, breaking a 36-year old sectional record in the process. He also went on to also win the 200-meter championship as well with a time of 22.21 to help the Trojans to a second-place finish with 122 points behind host Portage (130 points). Nicholson advances in both events to this Thursday’s Valparaiso Regional.

At last Tuesday’s Penn Sectional, Quintana helped the Cavemen earn their first team title since 2012 with 148.5 points and qualified in all four of her events for this Tuesday’s Warsaw Regional. In addition to winning the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:14.05, she was also second in the 800-meter race (2:22.85), third in the 3,200-meter run (12:13.23), and guided the 4×800 relay team to a second-place finish (10:08.36).

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
