Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | February 10-16

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from February 10 through 16. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
CJ Penha, Taylor
Penha added two more double-doubles to bump his season total to 10 and averaged 18.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in Taylor wins over Goshen and No. 20 MVNU. The sophomore forward sparked TU’s 94-79 upset at Mount Vernon Nazarene with 25 points and 10 boards.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jamie Netzley, Taylor
Netzley scored a career-best 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting in No. 5 Taylor’s 81-65 win at MVNU and averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 16-of-22 in TU victories over Goshen and Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Men’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Sebastian Behme, Spring Arbor
Behme set a Spring Arbor record and claimed the Crossroads League Indoor Championship with 4,740 points in the heptathlon, while posting the seventh-best score in the NAIA in the event this season.
Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Kyle Liwanag, Marian
Liwanag had a part of three event wins for Marian in its Crossroads League Championship effort, notching individual victories in the 600 and 800-meters and taking first in the 4×800-meter relay for the Knights. The sophomore set two meet records and hit three NAIA standards.
Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak continued her impressive freshman campaign by leading Marian to a Crossroads League Championship with three MU school records, two meet records and three NAIA A-standard performances at the CL Indoor Meet. Oleksak won the long jump and 60-meter hurdles, took second in the high jump and fourth in the 200-meters.
Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Hannah Stoffel, Huntington
Stoffel was a force for Huntington at the CL Indoor Championships, winning the 600, 800 and 1,000-meters, along with the distance-medley relay. The junior hit NAIA A standards and set new meet records in all four races, while turning in the best time in the NAIA this season in the 600, 1,000 and DMR.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Kory Goodrich, Bethel
Goodrich moved to 5-0 on the mound for Bethel by tossing a seven-inning shutout against Asbury for the Pilots. Goodrich fanned four, while allowing only four hits and one walk in the contest.
Baseball Player of the Week
Conner Crawford, Taylor
Crawford highlighted Taylor’s 17-14 slugfest win over Olivet Nazarene, reaching safely in five-of-six plate appearances and ending the game with three hits, two doubles, three runs and two runs batted in.
Softball Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Heffner, Grace
Heffner opened the season for Grace with four hits in seven at bats during a doubleheader at IU Southeast. The junior leadoff hitter swatted two doubles in the twinbill and scored once.
