MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University has announced the hiring of Matt Reeb to become the new head coach of the Indiana Wesleyan University men’s soccer program.
“We are excited to welcome Matt, Caitlin, and their kids to our IWU Athletic family!” said Director of Athletics Mark DeMichael “We had a deep and talented candidate pool for this position, but we were drawn to Matt because of the diversity of his coaching experience. At each stop in his coaching journey, Matt has shown a commitment to sustaining excellence and the teams he coached reflected that commitment. Most importantly, Matt expressed a sincere and deep desire to disciple and mentor young men in their relationship with Christ. He not only expressed that desire, but he also shared a plan for establishing a team culture that is based on discipleship and unity in Christ. Those things are the foundation of IWU Athletics and we look forward to Matt’s arrival, and the contribution he will make to our department mission and culture.”

Currently serving as the head coach at Murry State College, Reeb coached seven All-Conference players since taking over in 2018. Transitioning the Aggies from NJCAA DIII to DI, Reeb led the Aggies to a No. 12 ranking in the NJCAA.

“I am extremely thankful and blessed to be named the next soccer coach at Indiana Wesleyan University,” said Reeb. “I would like to thank Mark DeMichael as well as the rest of the search committee for this opportunity. Since I started my coaching career, I‘ve repeatedly felt the call to serve at a Christian university, and the opportunity to disciple young men at a program with a rich history, such as IWU, is very exciting to me!”

Prior to MSC, Reeb served as an assistant soccer coach at West Virginia’s Alderson Broaddus University, where he coached four National Team players on a team that ranked No. 6 in the Midwest Region.

Prior to Alderson Broaddus, Reeb spent six years as head coach at Gibault Catholic High School in Waterloo, Ill.  During his six-year stay coaching both men’s and women’s soccer, the Hawks collected 143 wins, seven regional championships, four sweet sixteen appearances, two final four appearances, and an Illinois state title in the 2013 men’s season tournament.

As a player, Reeb was a member of the Greenville University Panthers from 2007-2010, where he earned Newcomer of the Year in the SLIAC in his freshman debut. A three-year member of the All-SLIAC Team, Reeb helped Greenville to one NCAA DIII National Championship appearance and two NCCAA National Tournament appearances. He capped off his career being named to the NSCAA All-American squad and NCAA 1st Team All-Region. Reeb finished his career with the second-most goals and points accumulated in school history.

Reeb earned a Master of Science in Sports Performance Degree from Concordia University and graduated in 2010 from Greenville College in Greenville, Ill. with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education.

Matt is married to Caitlin, and the couple have three children.
