Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 1-7

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from March 1 through 7. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Dayton Groninger, Indiana Wesleyan
Groninger’s 16 points and five rebounds helped No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan score a 77-67 upset of No. 5 Marian to win the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. The senior helped keep IWU in front by sinking nine-of-11 free throws.

 

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Christian Harvey, Marian
Harvey helped No. 13 Marian to an 86-71 win over No. 24 Saint Francis in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship with 17 points, seven rebounds and one steal. The sophomore sank five-of-six shots from the floor and both looks from deep.

 

Softball Hitter of the Week
Macee Marcum, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Marcum went five-of-eight at the plate for MVNU in a doubleheader sweep of Lourdes, hitting .625 and scoring four times while driving in five. Marcum also added one double in the doubleheader.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Wagner, Indiana Wesleyan
Wagner went 2-0 with one save for No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan, racking up 21 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work. The freshman posted an earned-run average of 0.95 and a WHIP of 0.82 for the Wildcats.

 

Baseball Hitter of the Week
Conner Crawford, Taylor
Crawford highlighted the offense for RV Taylor in its four-game sweep of Goshen, piling up five extra-base hits to go with four runs scored and five driven in. The sophomore’s 1.000 slugging percentage in the series was powered by two doubles, two triples and one home run.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Kameron Koch, Grace
Koch did not allow a run over 11 innings of work for the Lancers, tossing three shutout frames in a 7-3 win over Trinity Christian and blanking Bethel for eight innings in an 8-0 shutout. Koch picked up the win against Bethel and finished the week with nine strikeouts and a 0.64 WHIP.
