Trojans Blanked 2-0 By Grace
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Taylor men’s soccer team dropped a tough match against Grace (8-8, 5-2 CL) by a score of 2-0.
The Trojans could only cultivate two shots on goal throughout the match, while two of Grace’s seven found the back of the net. In the end, Grace outshot Taylor 14 to six and forced seven corner kicks compared to the Trojans’ two.
The Lancers first got on the board in the 18th minute of the match, after subbing three reserves just two minutes earlier. Two of the three Lancer reserves played a role in the match’s first goal, one scoring the goal while the other crafted the assist.
Grace held on to the 1-0 lead heading into the half, while the Trojans prevented the home team from landing another shot on goal.
Taylor could not quite keep up the defensive pressure, however, as the Lancers landed five shots on goal in the second half, one of which gave Grace a 2-0 lead with just nine minutes left to play.
Each of the six Trojan shots was taken by a different player, while Jhon Alzate and Matt Harrold were the only two to land one on frame.
Trojan goalie, Jacob Susud, secured four saves, while the Taylor defense recorded another for the team’s fifth total save.
Taylor (8-5-1, 3-3-1 CL) returns to Turner Stadium on Wednesday, October 27, when the Trojans take on Marion (8-6-2, 4-3 CL) at 7:00 pm.
