FABULOUS FIVE

  1. NorthWood (9-0): JJ Payne came up with a 64-yard reception for a touchdown as the No. 3 (Class 4A) Panthers claimed their first Northern Lakes Conference crown since 2018 with a 42-6 win over Goshen.
  2. Mishawaka (8-1): Chaz Hardy ran five times for 87 yards with three scores in the No. 5 (Class 5A) Cavemen’s 54-21 win at Wawasee.
  3. Penn (7-2): Gage Goralski caught three passes for 40 yards with a touchdown as the No. 10 (Class 6A) Kingsmen wrapped up the Northern Indiana Conference’s East-West Division title with 35-7 win over Adams.
  4. New Prairie (8-1): Noah Mungia scampered 23 times for 279 yards with a touchdown in the No. 8 (Class 4A) Cougars’ 35-7 win over Elkhart.
  5. Warsaw (7-2): German Flores-Ortega had 159 yards rushing and a school-best five touchdowns in the Tigers’ 35-21 win at Northridge.

HONORABLE MENTION

Bremen (5-4): Reece Greene threw a touchdown pass and intercepted a pass in the Lions’ 40-0 win over Clay.

Elkhart (7-2): Rodney Gates hauled in a 12-yard pass for a score for the Lions against New Prairie.

Jimtown (7-2): Colin Christman raced 12 yards for a touchdown as the Jimmies clinched the NIC’s North-South Division title with a 19-7 win over Riley.

Glenn (5-4): Ty’Ronn Larkin caught nine passes for 119 yards in the Falcons’ 36-0 win over Washington.

Northridge (5-4): Dylan Ritchie booted a pair of field goals for the Raiders against Warsaw.

MAKING STRIDES

Concord (4-5): Hudson Glantz was 9-of-11 for 172 yards with a touchdown in the Minutemen’s 52-0 blanking of Plymouth.

Saint Joseph (3-6): Brady Langager’s four-yard scoring run lifted the Indians to a 28-21 overtime win over Marian.

HELP WANTED

Adams (1-8): Daveon Patterson rambled nine yards for a touchdown for the Eagles against Penn.

Clay (0-9): Marcus Rankin accounted for 70 total yards for the Colonials against Bremen.

Goshen (2-7): Jake Turner caught a 16-yard touchdown pass for the RedHawks against NorthWood.

Marian (2-7): Mark Warbington recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown for the Knights against Saint Joseph.

Plymouth (0-9): Carter Bush recorded 5.5 tackles for the Rockies against Concord.

Riley (5-4): Dominick Jolley and Austin White combined to go 5-of-21 for 56 yards for the Wildcats against Jimtown.

Washington (2-7): Mekhi Wilson and the Panthers were guilty of four turnovers against Glenn.

Wawasee (1-8): Mason Shoemaker threw for 216 yards with a score for the Warriors against Mishawaka.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Wheeler (3-6) at Bremen (5-4) (Class 2A): The Lions’ last sectional crown came in 2018, while Wheeler won its previous title in 2011.

Fairfield (5-4) at Glenn (5-4) (Class 3A): The Falcons’ lone championship (Class 2A) came in 2009, while Glenn won its last crown (Class 2A) in 2004

Kankakee Valley (4-5) at New Prairie (8-1) (Class 4A): The Kougars have not won a sectional championship (Class 3A) since 1985, while New Prairie is trying to make it two titles in a row.

Marian (2-7) at West Noble (7-2) (Class 3A): The Knights have claimed seven straight sectional titles, while West Noble is still in search of its first crown.

Northridge (5-4) at Riley (5-4) (Class 4A): The Raiders are going for back-to-back sectional championships, while Riley’s only crown (Class 5A) came in 1992.
