My chances of achieving 80 percent for the season took a hit as I went 10-6 (63 percent) during the regional round. My overall record is now 301-78, which leaves me at 79 percent for the season.

CLASS 4A MICHIGAN CITY

Fort Wayne Wayne (21-4) vs. Kokomo (22-4): The No. 5 Wildkats edged Fort Wayne Wayne, 51-49, during the 2015-16 campaign. Preston Comer’s 18 points lifted the Generals to a 62-60 win over Noblesville. Flory Bidunga recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds in Kokomo’s 68-53 win over Fort Wayne North. Matt’s pick: Kokomo 72, Fort Wayne Wayne 62.

Penn (27-1) vs. Hammond Central (26-1): Dylan Derda racked up eight points in the No. 2 Kingsmen’s 73-60 win over defending state runner-up Chesterton. Matt King chipped in 12 points in the No. 3 Wolves’ 59-46 win over Mishawaka. Matt’s pick: Penn 65, Hammond Central 60.

Championship: Kokomo (23-4) vs. Penn (28-1): Matt’s pick: Penn 73, Kokomo 70.

CLASS 4A NEW CASTLE

Brownsburg (21-4) vs. Jennings County (24-2): Grant Porath accounted for 20 points in the No. 8 Bulldogs’ 66-39 win over No. 10 New Palestine. Carter Kent registered 16 points in the No. 9 Panthers’ 64-40 win over Evansville Reitz. Matt’s pick: Brownsburg 54, Jennings County 50.

Indianapolis Ben Davis (30-0) vs. Bloomington North (19-5): Mark Zackery’s 13 points helped the top-ranked Giants to 63-53 triumph over No. 6 and defending state champion Indianapolis Cathedral. Luke Lindeman came up with 14 points as the Cougars rallied for a 45-43 win over Columbus North. Matt’s pick: Ben Davis 69, Bloomington North 52.

Championship: Brownsburg (22-4) vs. Ben Davis (31-0): The Giants cruised to 57-33 win over Brownsburg on December 17. Matt’s pick: Ben Davis 62, Brownsburg 54.

CLASS 3A ELKHART

Delta (18-9) vs. Glenn (17-10): D’Amare Hood poured in 21 points in the Eagles’ 54-47 win over Peru. Chase Miller added 13 points in the Falcons’ 58-54 win over No. 9 Washington. Matt’s pick: Glenn 49, Delta 47.

NorthWood (25-2) vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (13-13): The top-ranked Panthers clawed past Bishop Dwenger, 62-58, during the 2016-17 season. Brock Bontrager amassed seven points in NorthWood’s 72-35 win over No. 8 Lake Station. Preston Ross ended with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the Saints’ 65-43 win over Twin Lakes. Matt’s pick: NorthWood 67, Bishop Dwenger 56.

Scottsburg (21-5) vs. North Daviess (24-5): Kody Clancy poured in 27 points in the Warriors’ 48-46 win over Greensburg. Jaylen Mullen scored 19 points in the No. 6 and defending Class 1A state champion Cougars’ 48-44 win over Gibson Southern. Matt’s pick: North Daviess 44, Scottsburg 41.

Guerin Catholic (18-8) vs. Beech Grove (17-6): Robert Sorensen finished with 20 points in the Golden Eagles’ 66-52 win over Danville. Jeremiah Tate managed 23 points in the defending state champion Hornets’ 65-56 win over Indian Creek. Matt’s pick: Beech Grove 63, Guerin Catholic 62.

Championship: Scottsburg (22-5) vs. Guerin Catholic (19-8): Matt’s pick: Guerin Catholic 58, Scottsburg 56.

CLASS 2A LOGANSPORT

Gary 21st Century (21-5) vs. Fort Wayne Blackhawk (24-3): The No. 3 Braves downed No. 7 Gary 21st Century, 65-57, in the 2019 Class 1A regional semifinals. Terrance Hayes contributed 12 points in the Cougars’ 67-58 win over Westview. Gage Sefton totaled 20 points in Blackhawk’s 80-59 win over Tipton. Matt’s pick: Fort Wayne Blackhawk 66, Gary 21st Century 59.

Wapahani (25-1) vs. Lewis Cass (19-7): The Kings slipped past No. 2 Wapahani, 63-62, in the 2014 regional semifinals. Nate Nelson added 14 points in the Raiders’ 73-50 win over No. 10 Carroll (Flora). Tyson Good recorded 22 points for Lewis Cass in a 62-51 win over North Judson. Matt’s pick: Wapahani 55, Lewis Cass 51.

CLASS 2A SOUTHPORT

Brownstown Central (23-4) vs. Indianapolis Scecina (18-6): The No 5 Braves posted a win over Indianapolis Scecina during the 1990-91 campaign. Jack Benter led the way with 32 points in Brownstown Central’s 64-49 win over Forest Park. Kaleb Milan tallied 18 points in the Crusaders’ 45-42 win over Park Tudor. Matt’s pick: Brownstown Central 59, Scecina 53.

Parke Heritage (19-9) vs. Linton-Stockton (27-1): The top-ranked Miners cruised to a 72-30 win over Parke Heritage on December 26. Ren Harper scored 18 points in the Wolves’ 58-48 win over Northeastern. Joey Hart registered 29 points in Linton-Stockton’s 62-33 win over North Decatur. Southwood (13-12) vs. Fountain Central (23-4): Dylan Stout tallied nine points in the Knights’ 57-38 win over Blue River Valley. Isaac Gayler ended with 16 points in the No. 2 Mustangs’ 54-52 win over Liberty Christian. Matt’s pick: Fountain Central 50, Southwood 45.

Marquette Catholic (20-7) vs. Kouts (17-9): The No. 10 Blazers eliminated Kouts, 63-53, in last year’s sectional semifinals. Lukas Balling came up with 16 points and nine rebounds in Marquette Catholic’s 60-48 win over Tri-County. Tristan Ballas chipped in seven points in the Mustangs’ 44-40 win over Bethany Christian. Matt’s pick: Marquette Catholic 61, Kouts 57.

CLASS 1A WASHINGTON

Indianapolis Lutheran (17-7) vs. Loogootee (20-7): Kameron Patterson’s three-point play with three seconds left gave the No. 7 Saints a 43-40 win over No. 1 Bloomfield. Peyton Bledsoe ended with 20 points in the No. 4 Lions’ 57-33 win over Northeast Dubois. Matt’s pick: Loogootee 55, Lutheran 52.

Jac-Cen-Del (18-9) vs. Rock Creek Academy (11-14): Matt Dickman poured in 19 points in the Eagles’ 61-59 upset of No. 6 Bethesda Christian. Jaleb Treat managed 16 points in the Lions’ 67-32 win over New Washington. Matt’s pick: Jac-Cen-Del 56, Rock Creek Academy 47.
