Indiana Wesleyan Wins 2022-2023 Crossroads League All-Sports Trophy
JACKSON, Mich. – Indiana Wesleyan secured the 2022-2023 Crossroads League All-Sports Championship for its 21st title since 2000 and the 26th title in school history, with 20 of those coming in the past 22 years.
IWU took the honor this time around with 167 points, reclaiming the top spot over second-place Marian. The Wildcats scored 72.5 points on the men’s side to also win the men’s title, while finishing second to Marian in the women’s standings with 84.5 points.
“It was an incredible year for the Crossroads League, with multiple teams finishing very high nationally in the Learfield Cup standings,” stated Indiana Wesleyan Director of Athletics Dean Webb. “I am thankful for the way that our teams have both achieved at a high level athletically and integrated their faith into their sport while influencing others for Christ.”
Indiana Wesleyan won regular season Crossroads League Championships in women’s tennis, men’s cross country, women’s basketball and competitive cheer during the 2022-2023 year. The Wildcats added second-place showings in women’s cross country, volleyball, men’s basketball, men’s indoor track, softball, men’s outdoor track and women’s outdoor track. In all, IWU saw 17 of its 20 teams that compete in the Crossroads League finish among the top-three in the league standings.
Points for the Crossroads League All-Sports Championship are awarded based on each team’s finish in the regular season standings, or for a team’s finish at the league championship event for the sports of cross country, golf, competitive cheer and indoor and outdoor track and field. A first-place finish earns 10 points, with nine points for second, eight for third and so on, until each team is given a point value.
