NOTES:
Georgia picked up 29 of 56 first-place votes and remained No. 1 for the 18th week in a row, dating back to October 9, 2022 after being idle in Week 8. An SEC team has been ranked No. 1 in the poll each week, dating back to September 29, 2019, a span of 50 weeks.
Ohio State moved up one spot to No. 3 after a 20-12 win at home against Big Ten rival Penn State. The Nittany Lions fell three spots to No. 10 by virtue of the loss to the Buckeyes. Alabama moved up two spots to No. 9 after a 34-20 comeback win at home against Tennessee.
Oklahoma’s No. 6 ranking marks the 97th all-time appearance in the Super 16 poll for Sooners, which is now fourth-best among all teams in the nation.
Last week’s No. 10 and No. 15 teams North Carolina and Duke dropped out of the poll completely after suffering losses in Week 8.
LSU returned to the poll and Missouri jointed the poll for the first time this season, claiming Nos. 15 and 16 respectively. Missouri’s appearance in the poll marks the Tigers’ fourth all-time and the first since December 7, 2014.
The SEC led all conferences with five teams, followed by the Pac-12 with four, Big Ten with three, Big 12 with two and the ACC and FBS Independents with one each.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL: The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2023 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 5 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 3. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
