GARY, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (18-0, 10-0 CCAC) defeated the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks (9-8, 5-4 CCAC) by a final score of 58-55.

Saturday’s win keeps the IU South Bend perfect season in tact at 18-0 and keeps them on top of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference at 10-0.

After falling to their largest deficit of the season at 15-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Titans went on a 24-13 run to take a two point lead into halftime.

Quarter three proved to be the tightest of Saturday’s contest with the RedHawks outscoring IU South Bend 15-14 to shrink the Titans lead to just one point heading into the fourth quarter.

Back and forth through Saturday’s final 10 minutes, IU South Bend sealed the game in the final seconds thanks to two free throws from Katie Gard and a steal from Sullivan Kessler to propel the Titans to a 58-55 victory.

The IU South Bend offense featured four different scores to reach double figures, led by Tenleigh Phelps who finished with 20 points.

Phelps’ 20 points came on almost fifty percent shooting from the field while knocking down seven free throws and three three point field goals while also securing 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.

Katie Gard, Emma Fisher, and Jazmen Watts all finished with 10 points to help the Titans win their closest game of the season.

Gard recorded 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the year while Jazmen Watts fell just two rebounds shy of double-double status with eight. Fifth year guard Emma Fisher shot 50% from the field and also secured five rebounds in her 38 minutes of action.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Wednesday, January 2th, when they crosstown foe Holy Cross College at 5:30 PM in the Student Activities Center.
